Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. A little bit Hollywood, a little bit Tokyo, the musical extravaganza Hong Kong Rhapsody is the follow-up to the previous year's megahit Hong Kong Nocturne. Both are directed by top Japanese director Inoue Umetsugu, with music supplied by legendary composer Ryuichi Hattori. The plot is typically lightweight, with Hong Kong's number one romantic lead, Peter Chen Ho, as an unemployed magician whose love life is so knotty it would take a Houdini to unravel. He chases a nightclub singer (played by movie queen Li Ching, whose singing voice is supplied by pop star Jing Ting) while fending off the advances of a bevy of sexy starlets. With beauties Angela Yu Chien and Alison Chang Yen providing eye candy, plus the kind of gaudy production numbers they just don't make anymore, Hong Kong Rhapsody is the last word in Swinging Sixties opulence at its campiest best.
When Ah Tao (Deanie Ip), a servant to the Leung family for nearly 60 years, suffers a stroke, she decides to quit her job and move into a local nursing home. The man she cared for since he was a boy, Roger (Andy Lau), takes it upon himself to help her adjust to her new life, which involves getting to know her new nursing home family, a motley crew of unique and quirky residents. As Ah Tao's health deteriorates, roles reverse, with Roger now taking charge of her care.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has been a pretty controversial film since the release of its first trailer, but this 61-year-old monster movie actually disproves the film's biggest criticism. Legendary's MonsterVerse has received consistently mixed reviews since its inception with 2014's Godzilla, with many fans comparing the movies to the 1954 original when criticizing the films. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is just the latest example of some fans not believing that the newest MonsterVerse movie lives up to the original, with one criticism being prevalent. However, this Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire criticism actually doesn't make sense considering this old Godzilla movie.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the latest installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse, with it teaming up the iconic titular characters once again after their massive battle in 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong. The first trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is out now, showing off the exciting next chapter of the MonsterVerse. The film will see Kong and Godzilla return to the Hollow Earth once again, this time in order to take on a new ape threat: the villainous Skar King. While the film is sure to feature a lot of dumb fun, this hasn't sat well with some MonsterVerse fans, with one criticism consistently being made.
