Title: Hong Kong Nocturne 香江花月夜
Year: 1966
Director: Inoue Umetsugu 井上梅次
Casts: Lily Ho 何莉莉, Peter Chen Ho 陳厚, Cheng Peipei 鄭佩佩, Chin Ping 秦萍

All the exuberance of those classic Hollywood musicals makes a smooth transition to Hong Kong in this joyous, raucous, and colorful tunefest. The story, centering on three showbiz sisters, may seem familiar, borrowing as it does from its American counterparts. But under the stylish direction of Japanese director Inoue Umetsugu, imported from Tokyo to Hong Kong to become one of Shaw Brothers' most distinctive filmmakers, Hong Kong Nocturne has an Asian flair that is unique. The three sisters are played by three of Shaw Brothers' top starlets: Chin Ping, Lily Ho, and most significantly, Cheng Pei-pei in one of her few contemporary non-martial arts roles.
