Scanner Cop is a 1994 Canadian film. It is the fourth film in the Scanners series and the first film in the Scanner Cop series. It was written, produced, and directed by Pierre David, with Daniel Quinn, Darlanne Fluegel, Brion James, Richard Lynch, Hilary Shepard

Sam Staziak played by Daniel Quinn, a rookie cop with the Los Angeles Police Department, is also a 'Scanner' (a person born with telepathic and telekinetic abilities). When a string of murders begins to decimate the police department, Sam faces sensory overload and possible insanity as he uses his powers to hunt the man responsible for the killings.

Dopo aver perduto il padre in uno scontro con la polizia, il piccolo scanner Samuel Staziak viene adottato dal poliziotto Pete Harrigan, che lo cresce come un figlio e lo incammina sulla via della legge. A tempo debito Sam entra nel corpo di polizia di Los Angeles e riceve dal padre adottivo, ora Comandante del dipartimento, l'incarico di investigare su una serie di omicidi di numerosi agenti, caduti sotto i colpi inaspettati di cittadini qualunque. Sam, che ha sempre avuto cura di nascondere i potenti poteri telepatici di cui è dotato, si risolve ad usarli quando vede ucciso il suo collega, e scopre in breve il responsabile nel dottor Karl Glock, un folle psichiatra che alimenta la sua guerra privata contro le forze dell'ordine attraverso gli involontari killer creati praticando il lavaggio del cervello su ogni malcapitato che si trova sottomano.
