Michael Winner, given the opportunity to up his game with a period piece and a cast of luvvies, just can't take himself out of the exploitation zone, ultimately turning in a well-dressed but poorly shot piece, with a phoned-in Dunaway performance, and some typical Winner sleaze.

Still, it's a romp, and I guess we all like a romp.
